Fostering Peace and Justice
Through Prayer and God
Exceptional Faculty Helping Students Reach Their Highest Potential
Mission Statement
At Mater Dolorosa School, our mission is to live out the spirit of St. Francis. We do this by teaching peace, justice, and kindness to students from Pre-School through Grade 8. We focus on building a community where faith, learning, and service go hand-in-hand. Daily prayer and acts of service, encourage our students to make a difference in the world.
Our school is a diverse, multicultural environment. We celebrate each student’s unique gifts and perspectives. We aim for academic excellence and prepare students for high school and beyond. Staying up-to-date with the latest technology gives our students the tools they need to succeed.
At Mater Dolorosa, education is about more than books; it’s about shaping hearts and minds to serve God and others. We invite families who share these values to join our school community. Together, we build a future grounded in faith, learning, and love.
Why Are We So Special?
Nestled along the scenic banks of the Connecticut River in Holyoke, Massachusetts, we offer a warm and supportive learning environment for students from Preschool through Grade 8. Since 2005, we have proudly held accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, reflecting our commitment to excellence.
At Mater Dolorosa, we follow the guidelines of the Springfield Diocese, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and Massachusetts educational frameworks. Our goal is to help each student grow to their fullest potential—spiritually, academically, and socially.
In addition to our strong academic program, we provide a rich Catholic education that emphasizes cultural diversity, acceptance, and community service. We believe that learning is a lifelong adventure, and we strive to create positive, meaningful experiences for every child. We can’t wait to welcome your family into our vibrant school community!
