Happy Spring! I hope that all our Mater Dolorosa School families and students have a wonderful weekend. Especially for those families watching or participating in the Holyoke Road Race or Saint Patrick’s Day Parade!

** Permission Slips for students in Grades 5-8 were handed out to attend Weekly Masses at Saint Jerome’s Church during the Lenten Season. We plan on attending Mass. weekly…..so please return all signed permission slips back ASAP. Thank You So Much! **

Academic Agenda for Week : 3/23 – 3/27
Math 8 (Algebra):
The 8th grade Algebra class will begin learning about rational and irrational numbers with Chapter 11: Lesson 11-3 “Rational Square Roots”. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 11-3 “Rational Square Roots” is scheduled on Friday, 3/27
Religion 8:
The 8th grade Religion class will complete Unit 4 “We Are Called”, and will complete various lessons on Lent, Holy Week and Easter from our “Finding God” books. Along with learning our various sessions from our Religion books “Finding God”, we will continue with watching videos and completing lessons with Studio 3:16. We will also focus learning about Virtues of Faith with different themes and saints. This year our virtue is “Charity”, and the theme for the month of March is Respect …..recognizing the dignity of all people. The saint we are learning about for the month of March is Saint John Paul II.
Math 7 (Pre-Algebra):
The 7th grade Pre-Algebra class will begin learning about linear functions with Topic 4 : 8-2 “Linear Equations in Two Variables” in our Pre-Algebra Books. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 8-2 “Linear Equations in Two Variables” is scheduled on Friday, 3/27.
Religion 7:
The 7th grade Religion class will complete Unit 4 “Jesus the Christ”, and will complete various lessons on Lent, Holy Week and Easter from our “Finding God” books. The 6th grade math class will continue with (Volume 2 Envisions Math Book) to learn about understanding and using ratios and rates with Topic 5: Lesson 5-2 “Generate Equivalent Ratios”. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 5 “Generate Equivalent Ratios” is scheduled on Friday, 3/27. Along with learning the regular math topics for each week, we will reinforce your division facts skills for the remainder of the school year with weekly “Timed Division” math quizzes. This week the “Timed” Division Facts Quiz will be on Lesson 6 – “Facts to 49” on Wednesday, 3/25.
Math 5:
The 5th grade math class will continue learning about using equivalent fractions to add and subtract fractions with Topic 7 : Lesson 7-3 (Part A) “Add and Subtract Fractions with Like Denominators”. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 7-3 (Part A) “Add and Subtract Fractions with Like Denominators” is scheduled on Friday, 3/27. Along with learning the regular math topics for each week, we will reinforce your multiplication facts skills with weekly “Timed” Multiplication math quizzes for the remainder of the school year. This week the weekly “Timed” Multiplication Facts Quiz will be on Lesson 7 – “Cumulative Review” on Wednesday, 3/25.
