I truly hope that all our Mater Dolorosa School families and students had a great weekend and got to enjoy the Super Bowl, despite all the extreme cold weather.   Â
Important News / Information:Â Â 2/9 – 2/13
*** Catholic Schools Week rescheduled events will take place on Thursday, 2/5 and Monday, 2/9 **
Saturday 2/7 – Father – Daughter Dance (6 – 8:30 pm)
Monday 2/9 – Rescheduled CSW – Sports Day Theme and “SOUPER-BOWL” Event will take place today. All soup cans brought in will be donated to the Providence Ministries of Holyoke.Â
Monday 2/9 thru Thursday 2/12 – Lollipop Gram’s Sale Â
Thursday 2/12 – PTO Meeting at 6:00 pmÂ
Friday 2/13 – Red and Pink Dress Down Day to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Lollipop Gram’s will be delivered by the Student Council members. ** Our Class will be celebrating Valentine’s Day today too. ♥ ♥ **

Math 8 (Algebra):
The 8th grade Algebra class will continue learning about the introduction to functions with Chapter 8: Lesson 8-3 “Slope of a Line”. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 8-3 “Slope of a Line” that is scheduled on Friday, 2/13 Â
Religion 8:
The 8th grade Religion class will continue Unit 4 “We Are Called” with Session 18 “The Church Reaches Out”, along with completing lessons on Lent  from our “Finding God” books.  Along with learning our various sessions from our Religion books “Finding God”, we will continue with watching videos and completing lessons with Studio 3:16. We will also focus learning about Virtues of Faith with different themes and saints. This year our virtue is “Charity”, and the theme for the month of February is Prudence …..making good decisions in specific circumstances. The saint we are learning about for the month of February is Saint John XXIIIÂ
Math 7 (Pre-Algebra):
The 7th grade Pre-Algebra class will continue learning about solving problems using equations and inequalities with Topic 5 : 5-3 “Solve Equations Using the Distributive Property”. We will be using the 7th grade Pre-Algebra books to align with the Envision Book (Volume 2) lessons with Lesson 3-2 “Solving Equations Having Like Terms and Parentheses (The Distributive Property). During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 5-3 “Solve Equations Using the Distributive Property” that is scheduled on Friday, 2/13.Â
Religion 7:
The 7th grade Religion class will continue Unit 4 “Jesus the Christ” with Session 18 “Jesus Redeems Us”, along with completing lessons on Lent from our “Finding God” books.  Along with learning our various sessions from our Religion books “Finding God” we will continue to watch videos and complete lessons with Studio 3:16. We will also focus learing about the Virtues of Faith with different themes and saints. This year our virtue is “Charity”, and the theme for the month of February is Prudence…..making good decisions in specific circumstances. The saint we are learning about for the month of February is Saint John XXIII. Â

The 6th grade math class will continue to learn about solving equations and inequalities with Topic 4: Lesson 4-3 “Write and Solve Addition and Subtraction Equations”. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 4-3 “Write and Solve Addition and Subtraction Equations” that is scheduled on Friday, 2/13.  Along with learning the regular math topics for each week, we will reinforce your division facts skills for the remainder of the school year with weekly “Timed Division” math quizzes. This week the “Timed” Division Facts Quiz will be on Lesson 1 – “Facts to 25” on Wednesday, 2/11.
Math 5:
The 5th grade math class will begin to learn about using models and strategies to divide decimals with Topic 6 : Lesson 6-1 “Patterns for Dividing with Decimals”. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 6-1 “Patterns for Dividing with Decimals” that is scheduled on Friday, 2/13.   Along with learning the regular math topics for each week, we will reinforce your multiplication facts skills with weekly “Timed” Multiplication math quizzes for the remainder of the school year.  This week the weekly “Timed” Multiplication Facts Quiz will be on Lesson 2 – “Twos and Squares” on Wednesday, 2/11.Â
