Upcoming events/reminders:

Crayola Art Club – Continues through Dec. 2. 

Mad Science Club – Continues through Nov. 4.  

CYO Basketball – Practice begins in November and games begin in December. 

Halloween Party/Parade – Begins at 1:45pm on October 31.  No scary costumes, masks, weapons.  We will also have a class party prior to the parade.  Students are able to bring in a snack to share with the class – cake, cupcakes, cookies, juice, etc.  Chips, popcorn, etc. (individually packaged only). Students can also bring in goodie bags for each other.

Lyman Orchards Pie Fundraiser – Thanks to everyone that ordered pies.

Our Lady of the Cross Parish Fall Festival – Thanks to everyone that attended and helped out.  

Parent/Student Handbook 2025-2026 – Please read through the updated handbook and sign/date the last page and return in your child’s daily folder. Both parent and student must sign the form.

Uniform Policy – Our school uniform policy has been updated.  Please refer to the school website for all changes.

Class News:

Parent/Teacher Conference – reminders will be sent home on 10-29.  Please  contact me if unable to make your assigned time. 

Colder weather is upon us! Please make sure your child brings a jacket or sweatshirt to school. 

Please make sure your child comes to school with their class folder and agenda daily.

English/Phonics:

Rhyming words; synonyms; informational text – main idea, facts, details, simple graphics; declarative sentences

“k” sound spelled -ck; s/z sound spelled -s; review initial consonant blends; r blends

Spelling/Sight Words for this week – black, sick, tack, stuck, stack, sack, back, luck, walk, what, take, she, jump

Religion:

Thankful for God’s Creation during Ordinary Time; The Holy Spirit.

Virtues in Practice – St. Martin de Porres- courtesy (being thoughtful of others).

Math:

Continue working using addition facts to solve subtraction problems; solve word problems by drawing pictures and writing equations; using a number line; make 10 to add solving addition problems using different strategies.

Please continue to practice math facts daily for accuracy and fluency!

Science:

Plant Parents and Their Offspring – How are plants similar to and different from their offspring; how do plants use their parts to meet their needs.

Social Studies:

Continue working on how to be a good citizen; how should citizens treat each other; why do we vote.
