I hope that all our Mater Dolorosa School families and students had a wonderful Weekend. Can’t believe that we are in our final weeks of school….where did the school year go?
Important News / Information: 6/8 – 6/12
Monday, 6/8 – “Aloha Dress Down Day” with bringing in a donated tropical food item. Flyers were recently sent home.
Tuesday, 6/9 – Student Council Invasion Day
Wednesday, 6/10 – 8th Grade vs Faculty Basketball Game at 9:30 AM. 8th Grade Last Day of School – Dismissal at 11:00 AM
Wednesday, 6/10 – 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony at Our Lady of the Cross Church at 6:00 pm.
Thursday, 6/11 – 4th Grade – Step Up Day
Friday, 6/12 – Field Day & BBQ ** Rain Date for Field Day & BBQ will be Monday, 6/15 **

Academic Agenda for Week : 6/8 – 6/12
Math 8 (Algebra):
The 8th grade Algebra class will complete learning about Factoring Polynomials (High School Math) with Chapter 5: Lesson 5-9 “Factoring Pattern ax + bx + c”. During this week we will complete some daily in-class assignments.
Religion 8:
The 8th grade Religion class has completed their “Finding God” books. During this we will continue with watching videos and completing lessons with Studio 3:16. We will also complete learning about Virtues of Faith with different themes and saints for this school year. This year our virtue is “Charity”, and the theme for the month of May is Responsibility …..being reliable in your duties and accountable for your actions. The saint we are learning about for the month of May is Blessed Bartolo Longo.
Math 7 (Pre-Algebra):
The 7th grade Pre-Algebra class will complete learning about measurement, area, and volume with Topic 10 : 10-8 “Volumes of Pyramids and Cones” in our Pre-Algebra Books. During this week we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 10-8 “Volumes of Pyramids and Cones” that is scheduled on Thursday, 6/11.
Religion 7:
The 7th grade Religion class will complete Unit 5 “Jesus Lives On” with Session 25 “Celebrating Pentecost” from our “Finding God” books. Along with learning our various sessions from our Religion books “Finding God” we will continue to watch videos and complete lessons with Studio 3:16. We will also complete learning about the Virtues of Faith with different themes and saints for this school year. This year our virtue is “Charity”, and the theme for the month of May is Responsibility…..being reliable in your duties and accountable for your actions. The 6th grade math class will complete learning about solving area, surface area, and volume problems with Topic 7: Lesson 7-8 “Find Volume with Fractional Edge Lengths”. During this week we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 7-8 “Find Volume with Fractional Edge Lengths” that is scheduled on Thursday, 6/11. Along with learning the regular math topics for each week, we will reinforce your division facts skills for the remainder of the school year with weekly “Timed Division” math quizzes. This week the “Timed” Division Facts Quiz will be on Lesson 16 – “Facts to 144” on Wednesday, 6/10.
Math 5:
The 5th grade math class will complete learning how to apply the understanding of multiplication to multiply fractions with Topic 8 : Lesson 8-7 “Multiply Mixed Numbers”. During this week, we will complete daily in-class and homework assignments to help prepare for the math quiz on Topic 8-7 “Multiply Mixed Numbers” that is scheduled on Thursday, 6/11. Along with learning the regular math topics for each week, we will reinforce your multiplication facts skills with weekly “Timed” Multiplication math quizzes for the remainder of the school year. This week the weekly “Timed” Multiplication Facts Quiz will be on Lesson 16 – “Cumulative Review” on Wednesday, 6/10.
