Principal’s Message

Welcome to Mater Dolorosa Catholic School! We are so very happy to announce that in 2026, Mater Dolorosa Catholic School is celebrating 120 years of educating the hearts, minds, and souls of so many students, from our beginnings in 1906 to now in 2026.   There is no greater legacy than being a part of where we began, where we’ve been, where we are right now, and where we strive to continue to be as a vital Catholic School in the City of Holyoke.  I am very proud to be a product of a Mater Dolorosa education, and am more committed than ever to have the honor of leading Mater Dolorosa Catholic School as its Principal many decades later.

Mater Dolorosa Catholic School offers a warm and nurturing environment, where children are encouraged to develop into Christ-centered individuals.  We are an active and thriving Catholic School community that instills in children a passion for all learning, for developing and maintaining a personal relationship with God, and for an understanding of the mission of serving God and others.  At Mater Dolorosa, our dedicated staff work together to provide students a strong foundation, where all children are able to thrive within an environment where faith and academics intertwine to help them reach their full potential spiritually, academically, and socially.  Since 1906, Mater Dolorosa has educated children to become faith-filled and responsible citizens, critical thinkers, and independent learners. Today, students from 14 surrounding communities call our school HOME.

Our strong Mater Dolorosa Catholic School community is supported by active family involvement.  We work in partnership with our innovative Parent Teacher Organization and are appreciative of the continued support of our devoted School Board.  We invite you to become engaged and involved in our school community.

As we strive to live out our Mission of educating students, for the last 120 years and for future students, we ask for your continued prayers and support.  Mater Dolorosa Catholic School is stronger because of YOU, and we offer our daily prayers for all of you.

Peace and Blessings,

Mrs. Mary Fedora, M.A.
