Extended Day Program
The Extended Day Program is designed to meet the needs of those parents who are in need of childcare before and after the regular school hours. We provide a safe and familiar environment with adequate adult supervision, including certified teachers and teacher assistants. Aside from the school's Extended Day Program, we offer students the opportunity to participate in several paid and no cost activities throughout the year. These programs occur immediately following school dismissal.
The Extended Day Program is in session on school days between 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. On some half days, the Extended Day Program is in session from 11:30 - 5:30 p.m. All students who attend Mater Dolorosa School are eligible to participate in the program, which is held in the school cafeteria. Children are strongly encouraged to bring a snack. Independent homework and reading time is also made available to the students. Breakfast is provided free to all students as part of a city-wide grant.
The phone number for the After School Program is: (413) 532-2831.
Costs are determined each year based on time and duration of the program. The cost for the 2021-2022 school year has been set at $2.00 for the morning session. After school care is $4.00 for the first hour and then $2.00 per half hour or any part of the 1/2 hour. Bills are sent home monthly. Checks are to be made payable to Mater Dolorosa School. The Extended Day Program is a self-funded, non-profit program. More information on the Extended Day Program billing may be obtained by calling the school office.
In order to meet the expense of paying an After School Program employee to remain after 5:30 p.m for any student(s) not picked up, effective October 25, 2018, a late pick-up of fee of $10 will be charged along with an additional ½ hour charge.
Please review the Extended Program Information and Protocols and Extended Care Contract. A signed contract must be in place for your child to attend the program.
Participation and Registration
Each child that participates must be registered by means of the Parent Contract. Children may participate as necessary and "Walk-Ins" are always welcome. However, we ask that you call the office or send a note so that we will expect your children.
