Registration/Tuition

We are now accepting registrations for the 2020-2021 school year. Please contact the School office for a registration packet and to schedule a tour of our school.  Students entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 1.

The School Finance Committee is dedicated to a faculty salary structure that would help to keep quality teachers and maintain the excellent educational experience offered at Mater Dolorosa School.

2021-2022 K-8 AND PRESCHOOL TUITION RATES AND INFORMATION

2020-2021 TUITION RATES AND FEES

K - 8 TUITION
 
Non-Sponsored Rate:  $3,965.00 per student K-8
 
Our Lady of the Cross Parishioner Sponsored Rate:  $3,465.00 per student K-8
(The parish will pay $500.00 towards the cost of tuition if the requirements for
 parish sponsorship are fulfilled.)
 
If a family receives OLC parish sponsorship, an additional $275.00 for each child is deducted from the cost of tuition.  This deduction is paid by the parish.
 
Other Parish Sponsored Rate:  $3,515.00 per student K-8
(Normally a parent’s parish will pay a minimum of $450. per student if the 
parish’s requirements for sponsorship are fulfilled.)
 
PRESCHOOL TUITION RATES (PER CHILD)
 
Preschool Tuition Based on 175 Days/$35.00 per day.  Preschool 3 offers 2, 3, 4 or 5 day options for attendance. Preschool 4 and  Pre-kindergarten classrooms offer 3, 4 or 5 day options.

 The three tuition payment plans to choose from are: Payment in full by August 15, 2020, twelve monthly payments (July -June) or ten monthly payments (August – May) through the FACTS TUITION Payment Plan.  Payment in the office on a monthly basis will not be accepted.

 In addition to the tuition, all families will continue to be required to provide 10 service hours per year or the monetary equivalent of $25.00 per service hour will be assessed at the end of the school year.

PARISHIONER SPONSORED TUITION RATES
 
Our Lady of the Cross Parish
 
In order to be eligible to receive sponsorship for the 2020-2021 school year, the following requirements needed to be met during the 2019-2020 school year: 
 
  • Registered members of the parish

  • Attend Mass regularly in the parish as a family

  • Contribute at least $300.00 in the offertory collection

  • Provide 5 hours of volunteer service to the parish (preferably fundraising events)

If you would like to receive sponsorship for the 2021-2022 school year, the above requirements will need to be met during this coming school year.
 
Other Parishes
 
The requirements to receive parish sponsorship as well as the monetary amount varies for each parish.  Please check with your own parish as soon as possible to determine if you are eligible.
 
DIOCESAN FINANCIAL AID
 
  • Online financial aid applications began on January 1, 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year. Diocesan financial aid is available for Catholic students enrolled in a Catholic School in the Diocese of Springfield.    (2021-2022) Financial Aid Application Requirements and Process . Please note that the regulations for financial aid  that we are currently following are COVID regulations and will not continue once the pandemic is over. The attached requirements can change at any moment.  At that time, financial aid will be limited to Catholic Families in good standing with their parish.

  • Applications must be completed online at FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment https://online.factsmgt.com/aid.

  • Completed applications will be processed March 15th, April 15th, and May 15th, and through September as long as funds are available.

  • To apply through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment:

    • Step 1: Click on Applicant Sign In

    • Step 2: New users select Create an Account; or returning users enter their existing Username and Password.  Be sure to send to FACTS your 1040 Income Tax form for 2019 and your W-2 statement for 2020, and the FACTS required fee.  The process is not complete until all paperwork is submitted and the fee paid.

  • Financial aid is not available for preschool students.  

 

MATER DOLOROSA SCHOOL FINANCIAL AID

We realize that some families experience financial hardships, which may make it difficult to afford a Catholic education.  We do our best to work with parents who may be struggling to send their child/ren to Mater Dolorosa School.  In addition to the financial aid that is offered by the Diocese of Springfield, there are some funds available to Mater Dolorosa School families who are in need of assistance.  If you are struggling with the cost of tuition, please contact the school principal as soon as possible.

Diocesan Requirements – School Tuition Aid (Grades K-12) 

  • Must be an active member of a Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Springfield (that is, attends Mass and financially supports the parish).Must demonstrate financial need within the Diocesan guidelines
  • Must complete a new application form each year
  • The financial aid is given apart from other assistance program available to children of teachers in our Diocesan Schools
  • Schools may offer their own financial aid assistance programs
  • Tuition Aid is not available for Pre-K students

Completed applications will be processed beginning March 15, continuing on the 15th of each month (as long as funds are available).  The process involves the financial aid office consulting the pastor with regards to membership and financial support.  After pastor consultation, acceptance/denial letters are sent to families.   Student names are sent to the schools with the amount of financial aid awarded.  The “normal” amount of aid given to a high school student can be as high as $1,000; while an elementary student may receive as much as $1,000.

Service Requirement

Parents/Guardians are required to volunteer 10 hours of service per family at Mater Dolorosa School or Our Lady of the Cross Church. If a family chooses not to complete service hours, a $200 donation or $20 per hour donation to the school will be assessed at year's end. Areas in need of volunteers are:

  • PTO & School Functions (PTO meeting attendance does not qualify as volunteer hours)
  • CYO (Coaching and Game Day Help)
  • School Classroom Volunteer
  • School Office Volunteer
  • After School Extra-Curricular Activities
  • Facilities Improvements (i.e. painting, landscaping, licensed electrician, etc.)
  • Marketing Committee
  • Fall Festival
  • Father/Daughter Dance
  • **Chaperoning Field Trips DOES NOT qualify as service hours. ***
